I first learned about SHARE when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990 and needed support for my journey. It's very different when you have someone to connect with who has been diagnosed. There's a special connection that I felt when I joined SHARE that I will always feel. Alice is currently the Executive Director of SHARE. |

The women of SHARE were there for me 15 years ago when I was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer. I am lucky to have done well after prolonged treatment and because a friend and fellow survivor at my doctor's office led me to SHARE. The personal experiences, wisdom and humor of our community go a long way to ease the upheaval created by life-threatening illness. It is a gift to now work with volunteers who supply information and encouragement to others now affected by the disease that impacted our lives so strongly. Andrea is currently Coordinator of SHARE's Ovarian Cancer Hotline. |

Initially I became involved at SHARE as a breast cancer hotline volunteer and quickly learned how valuable, necessary and appreciated is the support of a survivor to a newly diagnosed woman. When the corporate Pink and Teal Seminars program was developed and I was invited to become involved, I was thrilled to be part of such a dynamic program that educates employees in their workplace about breast and ovarian cancers and empowers them to be proactive about their health. This work, and all the work at SHARE, is challenging, but it is incredibly rewarding and with great purpose! Arlene is the Pink and Teal Manager. |

My first experience with SHARE was with my friend Sherry. I came with her to SHARE 17 years ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Although I was her closest friend, she needed to speak with other women who were facing a cancer diagnosis. After I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, I appreciated the importance of being able to connect with other people who have had cancer. Our friends and family certainly want to support us, but there is something very valuable that we can only get from another survivor. Cheryl has been on the SHARE staff for 15 years and is currently the Director of Operations. |

I first worked with SHARE as a consultant in cultural competency and the LGBT community. I was impressed by the many programs, services and support offered by this small group of dedicated and passionate women. When asked to apply for my current position, I felt honored to be considered. Now I feel honored to be a part of such a dynamic organization. My particular areas of interest include programming, metastatic disease, BRCA, TNBC support services and training. As a clinical social worker who has been treated for breast cancer, my hope is to build a program that meets the unique needs of women with advanced disease. Christine is currently Coordinator of SHARE's Metastatic Program. |

I am a proud 18 year survivor of breast cancer. I was astounded by how focused SHARE was on the survivors back when I first joined many years ago. As a survivor, I knew that I wanted to be a part of SHARE. As Director of the LatinaSHARE Program for several years, I worked with many women affected by breast or ovarian cancer. The idea for SHARE's Novela originated with me, and I am very proud to say that it has been distributed to various countries. Ivis is now the Senior Director of Programs at SHARE. |

I first became involved with SHARE as a member of the LatinaSHARE support group in Queens, when diagnosed 10 years ago. I soon realized how fortunate I was to be bi-lingual and able to advocate for myself as a patient, as opposed to the majority of women of this group from South America, who spoke little to no English, or those who were in this country alone facing a major health crisis. I began volunteering and was so impressed by LatinaSHARE's efforts to help Hispanic women, that I recommended it be recognized and honored at the Annual Gala of the Latino Lawyers Association of Queens County, which recognized LatinaSHARE with an award for Community Service, and a generous donation for the program. Jennie is currently the Co-Director of LatinaSHARE. |

I am one of the founding members of SHARE. I have been involved with SHARE since 1975 when it all began. After having a radical mastectomy, I knew I needed the support. The support system is what drove me to become a part of SHARE. Today and always, I am constantly finding a way to help others cope with feelings. Lee is Special Projects Coordinator. |

I found out about SHARE from my friend Rimma who was diagnosed with gynecological cancer and called SHARE's hotline. She received SHARE's newsletter and SHARE's calendar, and she saw the position of Administrative Assistant posted there. She knew that I was looking for a job and she called me. I sent my resume and I was called for an interview. That was in 1994. I've worked here since then, starting as an Administrative Assistant to programs. Now I am the Program Manager at SHARE, organizing programs and keeping programs on a good level. SHARE helped me a lot dealing with my own health problems, with doctors and the medical system in general and on an emotional level as well. Marina is the Program Manager. |

What attracted me to SHARE was its peer delivered services. In the past I have worked with serious diseases such as HIV and I know there is something special and very important about speaking to other peers. It allows people to communicate, and there's a certain authenticity and value for peers to be able to understand one another. Maya is currently the Director of Development. |

After several years of development work in the Arts, I found SHARE when looking for another professional challenge that I would find personally motivating. When I came to SHARE, I found a work environment that was warm and compassionate. SHARE staff takes being on the same team seriously. It is a pleasure to wake up each day and carry out work that positively affects thousands of women and men. Nicole works as the Development Coordinator for SHARE. |
