Spring brings health care reform!

March 21 was the first day of spring for Health Care Reform. Legislation has gone to President Obama for his signature which is assured. SHARE advocates who joined in the effort of the National Breast Cancer Coalition to fight for access to quality health care for all and who made calls to Congress demanding reform can be proud. For women battling breast or ovarian cancer, Health care reform will mean:

  • Access to quality treatment
  • Protected coverage in case of job loss
  • Guaranteed eligibility for health insurance regardless of any pre-existing conditions.

And a significant number of educated consumers will sit on the boards and committees that will be evaluating health care policy decisions.

Watch for a complete run-down of Health Care Reform legislation as it will affect women and men with breast or ovarian cancer in this space in coming days. For now, I congratulate us all for an historic achievement.
