How to Camouflage a Flat Chestscape

I had a bilateral mastectomy and find prostheses and bras physically uncomfortable. What advice do you have for comfortable clothing styles that will camouflage my flat chestscape?

This is a great question!!!! There are actually several things you can do!!!

1. Wear ruffles... ruffles are always a big deflector if you are not full in the chest.
2. Layer.. if you have on a something blousy with a blazer/cardi it will not be as noticeable.
3. Scarves... long wrap-arounds that come down the front will cover the chest which will also deflect.
4. Patterns... no one is noticing your chest when you are wearing a bold print... they are too busy noticing what's goin' on ;-)
5. Monotone... if you are in all black with a layering piece you will never notice a flat chest.

Loose -fitting clothing works best for me. Also small scarves that rest easily on your chest. Button down shirts work much better than a close fitting pullover. Also I find woven fabrics offer some softness. Tight fitting thin knits are out for me. Bulky sweaters, cable knits, etc provide some camoflauge.
I'd love to see some designers adressing this challenge!

as one having a right breast, the scarf thing sometimes works for me, as the bra is not really wanted from time to time(shoulder discomfort, whatever). oh, to be able to reinvent oneself; to model an amazon; and establish a great 21 century style! do you think the new fashion would catch on in the broader community? well, it's and idea, radical enough for anyone.

Yes, I have experienced all: both breasts, right breast only, and, now, none. As soon as I get home, the prosthetics come off! I am a big, curvy girl, so it would be very noticeable without camoflage. I found that button-down shirts were by far the easiest to wear, esp with the one breast. I agree with all of the other tips, and love the ruffles idea. Scarves cover a multitude of issues, and layers are great. Great question, and I would be thrilled if the designers created something for us!
