Immunotherapy and Uterine Cancer: What Patients Should Know

Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses the body’s immune system to fight cancer cells. Advances in immunotherapy over the last few years have been game-changing for the treatment of uterine cancer, particularly in advanced or recurrent disease. Dr. Emily Hinchcliff, gynecologic oncologist at Northwestern Medical Group, will discuss the various immunotherapy treatments available to patients and which molecular cancer types might benefit the most from these treatments. She’ll also review potential side effects that can occur with immunotherapy and how best to recognize and manage them.

Key Takeaways from this Webinar:

  • Know your own tumor characteristics
    • Have you/your tumor undergone genetic testing
    • What is your mismatch repair status?
    • What is your tumor histology?
  • Know if you are a candidate for the addition of immunotherapy, both upfront and in the recurrent setting
  • If you are on immunotherapy, be self-aware – recognize that immune related side effects do not always present like “traditional” chemotherapy side effects and may warrant a discussion with your doctor
