Let’s Talk About It: Black Women with Breast Cancer (Food for the Soul: Nourishing Our Culture with Healthy Alternatives)

Many foods in the Black community are rooted in tradition, creativity, and resilience, evolving from classic soul food to plant-based innovations. However, cancer treatments and surgeries can alter taste buds, appetite, and overall nutritional needs. Join Mercedes Harris, PharmD, MPH, RPh, for a guided cooking demonstration, where she’ll transform some traditional food favorites into healthier, nutrient-rich dishes. Dr. Harris will explore how Black women can maintain wellness by debunking common food myths and discussing practical ways to manage stress-related eating. Let’s celebrate our culture while nourishing our bodies both deliciously and mindfully! Mark your calendars, and let’s talk about it!
