Ovarian Cancer Screening

Screening-for-Ovarian-Cancer

There are no tests that can screen for ovarian cancer.

PAP smears, mammograms, CA-125 tests, or colonoscopies cannot detect ovarian cancer. Most women are diagnosed at later stages of ovarian cancer because the symptoms are often not obvious, and because there is no reliable screening test for ovarian cancer. However, earlier detection can mean a higher chance of survival. That's why it is important to understand your risk and to know your body so you can detect symptoms. Certain tests and exams can also be performed for women at a high risk for ovarian cancer or for women who have suspicious symptoms.
