SHARE is thrilled to introduce our first LatinaSHARE conference in Spanish with English translation: Voces Unidas Crean Cambio (United Voices Create Change). This dynamic milestone event is free for all attendees on March 21st at 4W43 Conference Center at 4 West 43rd Street in Manhattan, as well as live streamed for those who prefer to attend remotely.
We will join together to explore critical issues that impact Latinas with cancer and wrap-up with a joyful celebration of LatinaSHARE’s 30 years of groundbreaking, dedicated support for the Latino community. We look forward to sharing wisdom, learning from each other, and inspiring decisive action.
Critical issues will include: socioeconomic barriers and resources, trust in health services, cultural stigmas, and mental health impacts. We could not be more excited to have our Keynote Speaker, Eileen Z. Fuentes get the conference off to a powerful start as she passionately talks about how to empower Latinas to take charge of health and finances, network to transcend individual challenges, and create a formidable force for health and resilience.
Eileen’s journey, from her experience with triple negative breast cancer, to her impactful leadership roles at renowned institutions such as Columbia University Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, reflects a dedication to addressing disparities in cancer care. For six years, she spearheaded a bilingual wellness program, emphasizing culturally appropriate communication and patient education, prior to her current role overseeing HR operations for New York City’s public hospital system.
Everyone’s voice will be heard! Breakout session topics will include:
- Engaging Family & Community to Challenge Stigmas
- Latina Representation in Clinical Trials
- Building Latina Trust in Health Services
- Cancer’s Impact on the Mind and Body
Jennie Santiago, Senior Director of LatinaSHARE Support and Education invites everyone to attend:
“I am elated and honored to be part of this essential forum for us to work towards providing equitable cancer care that caters to the needs of our community. At the close of our event, we will celebrate LatinaSHARE’s 30th Anniversary, as a reminder of the enduring power of community and the incredible things we can accomplish when we come together. We look forward to seeing you there!”
